What is a North Carolina DWI Assessment?
A DWI Assessment is a clinical interview by a Licensed or Certified Substance Abuse Counselor that determines if a person has a problem with alcohol and/or drugs. The process of an official DWI assessment consists of collecting information about the details of the DWI, family and relationship history, cultural values and beliefs, employment, as well as current and prior medical and mental health concerns, including physical and psychological conditions. The entire process generally takes about an hour to complete through face-to-face interaction where clients can share their personal take on the DWI experience and ask questions that assist with a greater deal of understanding including the present conversation and what to expect going forward.
